On Fair Isle were a RED-THROATED PIPIT, 2 HONEY BUZZARDS, 2 ORTOLAN BUNTINGS, 2 LITTLE BUNTINGS and a WRYNECK.
The juvenile PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER is still on Fair Isle, along with a RED-THROATED PIPIT (trapped) and an ORTOLAN BUNTING.
On Unst an ICTERINE WARBLER is at Norwick, a GREY WAGTAIL at Skaw, a WOOD SANDPIPER is at Haroldswick, the OSPREY is still at Burrafirth, the male SHOVELER has moved from Haroldswick to Baltasound and the GADWALL is still at Uyeasound along with 2 CANADA GEESE and a GREENSHANK.

Olive cap streaked blackish, with dark border above rear part of supercilium.
During a visit to Badan Farm on 2 December 1995 MS noticed a small pipit perched on a wire 300 metres away.
From a distance, relatively distinctive pale buff bars on the folded wing, formed by the tips to the greater and median coverts, were noticeable.

This species is insectivorous, like its relatives, but will also take seeds.
Its back is more olive-toned and less streaked than that species, and its head pattern is different with a better-marked supercilium.
The Olive-backed Pipit, Anthus hodgsoni, is a small passerine bird which breeds across temperate Asia.

Notable spring rarities in recent years have included Red-necked Stint, Red-throated Pipit, Collared Flycatcher, White-throated Sparrow, Rustic and Pine Bunting.
Depending on the weather, large falls of migrants can occur during April and May. Some of the regularly occurring scarcer species include Wryneck, Bluethroat, Marsh, Reed, Icterine and Wood Warblers, Red-backed Shrike and Common Rosefinch.
