 The Mauritian Wildlife Foundation
The native reptile fauna of Mauritius consists of five species of Day Gecko of the genus Phelsuma, Night geckos of genus Nactus, the Keel Scaled or Round Island boa (Casarea dussumieri), Telfair's skinks (Leiolopisma telfari), Bojer's and the closely related Macchabe skinks (Gongylomorphus bojerii and fontenayi) and Bouton skinks (Cryptoblepharus boutonii)
The five species of reptile are now found only on offshore islands, include the Round Island boa, the Guenther’s Gecko, the Telfair skink, the Bojer skink and the Nactus night geckos.
The Mauritian Wildlife Foundation (MWF) has been working in close collaboration with the government of Mauritius to help protect the remaining reptile species from extinction.

A Summary of the Current Demography of Guam's Native Lizards
The absence of any co-occurrences with brown Treesnakes in 68 islands of sympatry suggests that the snake may have had an effect on this species.
Cryptoblepharus poecilopleurus has never been recorded in substantial numbers on Guam, so it is not possible to make inferences about its population trends.
Higher densities of Carlia are difficult to conceive, but the brown Treesnake does prey heavily on the species based on the large number found in snake stomachs.

TM6 Dietary pathways through lizards of the Alligator Rivers Region, Northern Territory
Most of the insects of aquatic origin eaten by lizards were chironomids (midges) and culicids (mosquitoes), which mature from aquatic larvae and disperse into terrestrial habitats.
The detailed dietary analyses for the three species Cryptoblepharus plagiocephalus and Ctenotus essingtonii (Scincidae) and Lophognathus gilberti (Agamidae) showed that the diet of Cryptoblepharus contained 13% by volume prey of aquatic origin, whereas those of the other two species contained virtually none.
The broad survey showed that only two species, Cryptoblepharus plagiocephalus and Carlia gracilis (both Scincidae), ate significant quantities of prey of aquatic origin (8% to 13% by volume, respectively).

The range of the genus is interesting, being centred on the Indian ocean but bypassing Asia and instead being found in East and South Africa, the Indian ocean islands, Indonesia, the Pacific islands and Australia.

 Wall Skink (Cryptoblepharus virgatus)
I recognized these tiny speed demons right away as close kin to the tidepool-dwelling Cryptoblepharus burdeni I had seen a few years earlier on Komodo island in Indonesia.
I saw at least two dozen of them racing about on boulders and logs, but struggled to get any halfway decent pictures.

 Gray-Backed Terns Eat Lizards
The lizard was ahnost certainly a snake-eyed skink (Cryptoblepharus boutoni) because the only other species of lizard found on Enderbury, the mourning gecko (Lepidodactylus lugubris) is nocturnal.
The first bird I saw clearly rose from a swoop with a lizard in its beak.
Another tern, which I watched for about 8 rain caught skinks on 2 of 3 swoops.
